nahm, Bangkok

Home / Fine Dining / nahm, Bangkok
I had a separate reservation at nahm for one of our 3 nights prior to ending up deciding to stay at the same hotel. We were seated in what felt like the overflow section of the restaurant towards the back by an Australian sounding maitre d. Unfortunately it would be the only interaction we had with him all evening.

We started off with 2 overly sweet cocktails, where the alcohol couldn’t be discerned, something that we appeared to notice throughout Bangkok when ordering spirits.

Shortly after a delicious amuse bouche arrived of some sort of protein deep fried on top of a piece of pineapple. Unfortunately, the meal went downhill from there.

pork and lobster with shredded ginger and thai citron

blue swimmer crabs, peanuts and pickled garlic on rice cakes

chiang mai larp of guinea fowl

prawns and coconut wafers with pickled ginger

King fish salad with pomelo, lemongrass and lime
hot and sour soup of chicken, prawns and wild mushrooms
wild mushrooms and ginger soup
minced prawns simmered with shallots, young chillies and coriander with fresh vegetables and smoked pork
duck curry with banana peppers and shallots
stir-fried wagyu beef with charred onions, oyster sauce and thai basil
A slight interlude between mains and dessert was this green mango with salty/sweet/spicy salt.
coconut ash pudding with poached bananas
mango and sticky rice

this was quite ironic, as it turned out to be the only mango/ sticky rice we ate during the entire weekend, and we probably paid about 10x a normal price.

We found it somewhat interesting that all the ‘main’ dishes were brought out together (this being said we were told about it when ordering). This did however mean that we ate alot of the food lukewarm/ cold.

Additionally, probably from our 10+ hours spent on a plane, our leaves were quite heavily chapped. Let me tell you, chapped lips and spicy/ sour food do not go well together!

Finally, for a restaurant lauded in the San Pellegrino, the service of the staff in this restaurant was extremely lacking. Descriptions were proferred only after asking multiple times, and little things such as refilling water glasses were overlooked.
