Shangri-La, Valley Wing, Singapore

Leslie and Harvey accompanied me on a recent work trip up to Singapore. Thanks to the Fine Hotels & Resorts program, offered as part of the AMEX platinum charge card, we chose to stay in the Valley Wing of the Shangri-La Singapore, just off the quiet end of Orchard Road.

Thanks to a promotion at the time we received a complimentary 3rd night, as well as free breakfast, and a USD$100 credit to use on property.

Valley Wing has its own private entrance from the main hotel
The room and furnishings were starting to show their age, but were of a good size, particularly for Singapore.
Spacious bath although can tell the age with the tiny TV
Nice and large dual vanities
It was also our 2nd wedding anniversary so there was a little dessert upon our arrival
One of the top floors in the Valley Wing.
One of the options for breakfast was the summit room in the Valley Wing
Leslie tried the poached eggs with caviar and sent it back after a couple of bites
The local food was better than the attempts at Westernised breakfast
The lobby ‘bar’ area was a nice place for an afternoon drink or 2.
However the service here ranged from non-existent to being ignored for large stretches of time

I’m not sure whether that was because we weren’t VIPs, we were the youngest by a solid couple of decades, we had Harvey with us, or just some other factor

Nice little photo opportunity, but I find Singapore Slings too sweet for my liking
One of the fun things the hotel does is have these rugs in the lifts changed daily
As we were staying over Easter weekend, the turndown treat one night was this Easter egg
saturday rug
The lobby bar opens around 1030 and continues serving until 10pm
