Given we were returning from the Maldives and getting in at 8pm I figured there was no need to splurge given they would be kicking us out the next morning.
As such, we found ourselves sitting at the transit lounge in T3 upon landing with the laptop open and phone handy trying our luck at a few hotels. Unfortunately no one would give us a favourable standby rate so we went with a reasonable rate at the Swissotel that included breakfast as well as a room upgrade and late checkout by booking direct. More on that later!
Our harbour view room – the hotel definitely needs an update, but seriously it’s reflective of the Singapore hotel market.
The firm king size bed was very welcome
Bathrooms could also use some work
The view however, was spectacular
And with the Swissotel’s position, and size, affords a great scenery over the water
The view was great during the day too!
St Andrew’s Cathedral with the CBD in the background
The pools are shared between the Swissotel and the Fairmont
Whilst we didn’t use them during our stay they seemed sufficient without being amazing
Took a quick squizz at the gym which is downstairs by the pool area. Here’s the rather grand entrance.
Again, given it’s for use by both hotels it was a good size
With plenty of machines on offer
There’s also a few tennis courts available, however it was quite windy the day we were there
We headed off to the very uninspiring buffet breakfast
There’s 2 separate restaurants serving breakfast, one in the open air atrium, and one more in a ‘restaurant’, however from a wander through both the offerings were the same across the board.
Not particularly appetising unfortunately
Or perhaps it was fortunate after the excesses of the prior couple of weeks
Unfortunately the hotel could only grant us a late check out til 1pm, so we headed back down to the impressive lobby, put our bags into storage, and headed out to explore the city and while away the hours before the honeymoon (finally) came to an end.
